Valeo held its Innovation Day, September 11th, 2024, at its US HQ in Troy, Michigan. They demonstrated a number of new technologies in the areas of Power, Lighting and ADAS. This report provides a brief summary.

EVs are a growing part of the automotive market, but there are other trends driving technology content. 

Many AI models are developed for the desktop or run in the cloud, often using GPU accelerators. But what happens when you try and port these to an embedded system? Typically hardware resources such as memory and CPU/GPU capability are much more constrained and power budgets become more critical. An off-the-shelf model for object detection can be a good starting point for a lot of computer vision applications, however it will often have to be optimized and retrained to work well on the embedded platform.
